There’s something invigorating about intentionally moving between the extremes of hot and cold. Your breath deepens. Your senses wake up. Every fiber of your body transforms and ignites.
Contrast Water Therapy is the practice of alternating heat exposure and cold immersion to unlock incredible health benefits. Romans, Japanese Shinto practitioners, Scandinavians, and Russians all individually arrived at this same practice thousands of years ago.
Only at Sycamore Mineral Springs can you plunge into this ritual and pair it with the healing powers of mineral water.
New to the experience? Here’s a recommended sequence to follow during your first visit. With each visit, you can perfect your own routine and create the sequence that makes you feel the most alive!
1. Start by Letting Go
Before you begin, take a few minutes to prepare your body.
Settle into one of our Zero Gravity Chairs and let the chair's massage technology help you release some of the tension you carried through the door.
When you’re ready, let the contrast water therapy begin.
2. Warm Up in the Infrared Sauna
Begin with time in the infrared sauna. Enjoy a full-body sweat and allow the infrared heat to do its magic at a cellular level. As your temperature rises, notice your breathing slow and your muscles begin to relax.

3. Take the Plunge
Now for the thrilling part: the cold plunge.
Step in slowly and focus on your breath. The boldness of the chill brings you immediately into the present moment — there’s no multitasking or wandering thoughts when you’re in it.
The goal is to stay present. You might be surprised by how quickly your body and mind adjust. You are more resilient than you know.

4. Soak in Mineral Water
After the cold, return to warmth in one of Sycamore’s outdoor mineral hot tubs.
Sink into naturally heated mineral water beneath the trees and let your body warm back up. Enjoy that unmistakable tingling sensation as your body finds its balance again.
This is where the experience feels uniquely Sycamore.
5. Take a Break in Nature
Contrast therapy doesn’t have to mean rushing from one station to the next.
Between rounds, step into the outdoor lounge and take a few moments to simply be.
Feel the breeze. Listen to the trees. Look up at the sky. Sip some water. Let your heart rate settle.
These quiet pauses are part of the experience, too.
6. Repeat Your Flow
When you’re ready, begin the cycle again.
Heat. Cold. Mineral water. Nature.
Repeat at your own pace.
This is an age-old practice paired with Sycamore’s unique energy that works to transform and ignite every fiber of your being.
7. End With a Fresh Start
Your last stop is a little different.
After completing your Contrast Therapy flow-throughs, rinse off beneath our Vitamin C Shower. It’s a refreshing way to treat your skin and hair before bringing the experience to a close.
From the inside out, you’ll leave feeling alive and ready for whatever comes next!
